About the Department:

Language plays a vital role in our lives. Language is not simply restricted to correspondence; rather it reaches out into the tremendous parts of information and human sciences. Languages are equipped for creating human information and broadening it to serve humanity. The overall significance of language legitimizes the requirement for a logical and objective investigation of the connection among language and education.

The role and importance of language in the curriculum is always believed to play a central role in learning. Speaking and writing reflects the cognitive process that thinking is taking place. Regardless of the subject area, students assimilate new concepts when they LISTEN, SPEAK, READ AND WRITE about what they are learning

The Language(s) Department teachers, through the medium of various languages thrive to communicate, inculcate and convey important issues and facts to their students so that they are able to become better leaders of tomorrow.

The department comprises of 6 qualified and experienced teachers who are passionate and committed. The departments’ key role is to impart the English Curriculum as per the Education Ministries Curriculum Guideline with Hindi and Ni Vosa VakaViti as Vernacular subjects.

Literacy 

  • The department prepares and conducts Literacy Assessment for the students at various levels. This assessment tests the basic skills and concepts in English Language.

Achievements:

Despite English being the second language, the department has excelled in national assessments. The department has achieved outstanding results in external exams and the teachers aiming to create miracles with support and cooperation of the admin and students.

She is originally from Naigani, Batiki, Lomaiviti. This is her 5th year of teaching and also being part of this school. She teaches English for Year 9-11 and VV for Years 9-10. She is dedicated and hardworking. She is an inspirational facilitator who motivates students to do their best.

Activities & Initiative :

Common teaching strategies employed by the department include team teaching, peer tutoring, group presentation, debates, quiz, etc., however not restricting the limitations for the slow learners who are assisted with specially designed literacy programs.
